You leave Bayung while the mountain is still black. The lava is the ground under the jeep, and first light is the whole point of the hour — not a stop after sand, sunset, or the lake.
Most people who write Nirvana Jeep Tour already know they want a 4WD on the mountain. What they do not always know is which hour they are actually booking. This note is for the cold start: leaving in the dark for black lava, then holding for sunrise. It sits with Tour Sunrise & Black Lava. It is not a second sales page. It is the field note so you can tell whether this is your window before you open the tour.
The meet is Bayung Jeep Sunrise & Trekking Basecamp. Nirvana Jeep Tour rolls from there, not from a beach club and not from a viewpoint you drive yourself. If you are still choosing between four routes, start on Tours. If you already know you want first light, stay here.
You leave while the mountain is still black
The listed window is 03.30–08.00. That is not a suggestion to “come early if you like photos.” It is the shape of the run. You are in an open-top 4WD with up to three guests. You go out in the dark, you take the lava under the wheels, you hold for first light, and you come back to basecamp. Breakfast, a blanket, and documentations are on the listed tour. So are the jeep, a licensed driver, entrance, and parking.
There is a reason the title is not “sunrise viewpoint.” The dark is not atmosphere you add later. If you sleep through the leave time, you do not get a shorter version of the same hour. You miss the hour.
Pre-dawn from Bayung, then lava under first light. If you want the cold start, this is the run.
What “black lava” means on this jeep
On this route the lava is the ground, not a postcard stop after something else. Nirvana Jeep Tour also runs lava that ends on black sand, lava that holds for sunset, and lava that opens onto Lake Batur. Those are other hours. They live on other tour pages. Mixing them in your head is how people book the wrong light.
Not sand, not sunset, not the lake
If you want shoreline after the hardened flow, that is the black-sand note on Trail notes, and the matching jeep on the sand tour. If you want the day to end on the crater rim, that is the sunset run. If you want still water after the tracks, that is Lake Batur. This page does not stretch to cover them. It only tells you what happens when you leave in the dark.
The jeep, the price, and what is not guessed here
Tour Sunrise & Black Lava is listed at IDR 650k per jeep, up to three guests, 03.30–08.00. Kintamani pickup and drop-off is included. Ubud and Denpasar are listed as extras on the tour page — not invented here. If you need the extra, read it there. If you do not, you still need the tour page for WhatsApp and the live inclusions.

Guest write-ups after the dust settles live on Reviews. Who runs the basecamp sits on About Us. This article does not replace either.
How the hour actually feels in sequence
You are not collecting viewpoints. You are staying with one clock. Meet at Bayung before first light. Climb onto the lava while it is still black. Hold the ridge when the sky turns. Come back for breakfast. That is the whole arc. People who want a long midday loop, or a swim, or a second landscape type, should pick a different listing on Tours.
Bring what you already wear for a cold pre-dawn wait. The tour lists a blanket. It does not list a packing essay, so this note will not invent one. Ask from Contact if your group size, date, or pickup is the open question — not if you are still deciding between sunrise and last light. For that, read the other trail notes first.
If this is your hour, open the tour
A trail note should leave you able to say yes or no. If the dark start sounds like the point, book Tour Sunrise & Black Lava. If you wanted sand, sunset, or the lake, go back to trail notes and pick the matching jeep. Nirvana Jeep Tour will still be the same crew at Bayung. The light will not.
